[quote:77f8f15277] “One thing that helped me was turning down the audio channels from 32 to 8. Go to Library/ Application Support/ Unreal Tourment Demo 2003/ System/ UT2003.ini and scroll down about 1/4 the document and replace the Channels=32 to Channels=8. It didn’t make a quality difference, but I did get some noticable improvment in frame rates. Playing against bots I got about a 5 FPS increase and online around 10-20 fps increase. (G4/800 w/8500 AGP card)”
Since the 2nd CPU on dual G4 macs is reportedly used for sound, this tip probably helps more on single CPU macs than duals but worth a try on either. There’s also some other parameters in the audio section but I’ve not tried tweaking them. (DopplerFactor, Rolloff, TimeBetweenHWUpdates, DisablePitch and LowQualitySound for instance.) On a PB G4/800 (radeon 7500 mobility/32MB) reducing sound channels to 8 boosted the ‘botmatch-asbestos’ benchmark avg rates from about 17.21 to 20.68. (800x600 res used, actual ingame FPS rates during play are higher and may show more benefit than the botmatch benchmark results delta.)[/quote:77f8f15277]
In de performance-database van dezelfde site staat trouwens ook een eMac:
